Where to stay in Liverpool for a week or a month

Liverpool's centre is compact enough to walk across in half an hour, and each of its neighbourhoods has its own pace. Here's how they compare for a stay of a week or a month.

The waterfront and Princes Dock

Along the Mersey from Princes Dock to the Royal Albert Dock are the Three Graces at the Pier Head, the Museum of Liverpool and the docks' galleries, restaurants and bars. It's calm in the evening, and the views are the city's best.

The Lexington, on Princes Dock, is an eight-minute walk from the Royal Liver Building and 19 from the Royal Albert Dock.

The city centre and Liverpool ONE

The shopping streets around Church Street and Liverpool ONE, with Lime Street station and St George's Hall a short walk north: busy by day, and close to everything. Liverpool ONE is a 19-minute walk from The Lexington.

The Ropewalks and Bold Street

Independent cafés, restaurants and bars on Bold Street and the streets around it — lively at night, especially at weekends. Bold Street is 23 minutes' walk from The Lexington.

The Baltic Triangle

South of the centre, the city's creative quarter: old warehouses turned into studios, street-food halls and music venues, with a younger, busier feel.

The Georgian Quarter

Elegant terraces around Hope Street, between the city's two cathedrals and close to the universities and the Philharmonic Hall: quieter and more residential, a little further from the river.

Getting around

Merseyrail runs under the city centre, with James Street and Moorfields stations 13 and 14 minutes' walk from The Lexington. Liverpool Lime Street, for trains to London and Manchester, is about ten minutes by car, and Liverpool John Lennon Airport about 35.
